The demise of affordable live/work spaces for artists in our culture, a direct result of relentless greed by developers, is like the proverbial canary in the coal mine - it signals the beginning of the END of "culture" as we know it. The continuing Wal-Mart banalization of culture plows down everything in its path. Cultural extinction and the on-going extinction of plants, animal species, and water on the planet, is one and the same. When are we going to get that it's all connected? I hope this blog stimulates more discussion and ACTION. We must organize as artists and fight back NOW.
